Just kidding with ya

Edited to reflect this before you both got back in there hehe !

My intranet uses a netgear wireless AP... never had any probs with it TBH so would recommend the brand. Also Virgin are now using Netgear stuff and i have set up about 10 recently. Easy menu system and easy to setup out of the box.

Ive said to numerous people now regarding their contracts, all paying the same they did going back years ago when they first took out their contracts. Phone up Virgin and go through to retentions department (thinking about leaving us). Say youve had a good offer from Sky that includes a wireless router for free and you want to see if theyll match it. So far the past 5 of my clients have all got reduced billing and a free wireless netgear sent to them within the week. Would be worth the phone call even though its gonna be 10/100 and not a gig like this one.

I don't have this.

Gander on Ebuyer has mixed reviews.

Some complain this switch does drop the speed to 100Mbps.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/64190/...w_order_by=RUF

My experience switches that tend to do this because the auto-sensing is not working properly. You could probably resolve this by turning off auto, and setting 1Gbps Full Duplex manually.

It's backplane of 10Gbps seems good and does appear to support 9k JumboFrames. (Something that all giga links should support.)

Got this one my the side of me, flickering away and with that patina of dust that means it hasn't given any hassles in an age.

However, those looking for a gigabit backbone should be aware that Vista makes a mess of giga networks and you don't really see much increase in speeds. Maybe Win7 will be better.

Switch is fine though.
