Printing HUKD t-shirts/hoodies/stuff

POSTED BY: Admin 1 year, 2 months ago

In chat the other day there was some interest about printing off some HUKD t-shirts or other things. I've looked around a bit but don't know much about the print on demand options out there. I don't really want to go and have a batch printed off and then deal with all the distribution etc so using a print on demand site and setting the mark-up to zero would be the best solution.

What I'm looking for is some feedback on the options (particularly from someone with experience!). Here's the sites I've found so far:

http://www.cafepress.com/

http://www.spreadshirt.net/Pricing.4.0.html

http://www.comboutique.com/shop/apparels.html

Cafepress is the most well-known but doesn't have a UK branch so everything is shipped from the US. Looking at the pricing though it seems it would come out to pretty much the same price anyway after shipping?

The forum I used to work with had a Cafepress store, and though I wasn't involved in the merchandise side, our staff in that section seemed happy with the ease of using the site and our members seemed happy with the quality and price of goods.

Have never heard of the other 2 sites though so I couldn't give you a comparison, just that cafepress was good for us.

Thanks pawsntails - was this a UK forum? I'm just worried about things like shipping/tax? on the Cafepress orders.

Looking at a random other forums t-shirts they seem to be $24.99 with $7 international shipping. Import duty shouldn't come into it as the value is under £18

I've used spreadshirt, the service is pretty good, I have only ordered one shirt from it as a trial as I opened a shop on there to try and earn some extra cash for my junior soccer team. The t-shirt quality is ok the print is not too bad,
If you set up a shop on there you can state how much profit you want to make per item. saying that the items are quite expensive in the first place but I suppose its stuff you can't buy in the shops.

I have since purchased print paper from ebay and found that to be just as good on T-shirts and much cheaper

Hope this helps

We used cafepress for both sides, European and American shipping seemed fine, or at least non of the euro members complained lol.

as danmem said print paper could be a good option, though it would involve a lot more time and effort, where as with the online stores all that is done for you. Some print papers don't have a long life either.

You can also get a special gel/liquid thing which will transfer pictures to clothing, but yet again you have all the costs and each tube only lasts for a short while.

You could always go crazy with fabric paints, dyes and pens, if your the creative type then it could have a nice effect and everyone would get a one of a kind item, would prob be the cheapest option also. Even I have managed to make decent looking stuff with fabric paints and thats saying something.

I think (1) let's decide on a retailer/site to handle the stuff (2) pick products (3) maybe have a slogans thread and pick some "official" slogans?

Paul,

We use this website for car stickers on another forum - they are really good to deal with & will design the HUKD logo etc

Slogan thread is a good idea and you should offer a prize for the best e.g. the winner gets the first official mug/t-shirt/keyring/badge etc.

I think it should be Hot Uk Deals...Dealing hot hot hot!

Go on sing along you know you want to!
