Yes, but with the warranty, its not a bad starter laptop, for the price of a netbook.

Im sure the owners of past medion products who tried to get theirs fixed will diagree with you. The spec of this laptop is so low it might even be better to buy a brand new netbook 10" netbook with a 160gb hard drive. If you want a refurbished laptop go look on the dell factory outlet, there must be better refurbished laptops than this if not just wait a few more weeks for a good deal to pop up.

poor customer service then, shame thought about ordering this for my 7 year old daughter for christmas.

I got one of these (well the N9718, more or less the same spec except 2Gb RAM and cost an extra tenner) for my mum. It arrived five days after ordering and appeared to be new. It runs Vista (supplied) and office 2003 (not supplied) fine. Office and internet access are all my mum needs, but she needs a bigger screen than the 10" that netbooks offer. This laptop does just fine for that. My only complaint is it's a bit plasticy and if I was doing some serious travelling with the thing then I may want something a bit more solid. In this case it's just being moved round the house - fine....

I don't know how horrible the customer service is going to be, but for all companies you hear more about the bad service than the good, hopefully I want have any contact with customer service.
