There is a Samsung SSd on the way ( no eta yet , i admit )

Those write speeds are a typo, I'm pretty sure that model's 120MB/s write, the higher capacity ones are supposed to be quicker though. So no it's not worth the wait, as it's actually slower across the board for this capacity.

EDIT: Also I think the Samsung warranty is only 2yrs compared to the 3yrs offered by OCZ. ive got one of these, very nice, not the best on the market, but then again not the most expensive either.

fast enough, use it in my main system as my boot / system drive , photoshop used to take 18 seconds to load on my old hard drive, it now takes a conservative 4 :D

Yeah, I saw that Scan deal, wondered why it is considerably cheaper than everywhere else.

If this price is correct, surely it's better than the OCZ deal on offer here

Although the sequential write speed (i.e. time it takes to write a large file to a disk) of the Vertex is higher, the random write speed of the x25-m is far superior. Random writes is what your drive will be doing 90% of the time -- updating file system entries, writing out a page to disk, saving a snap shot of a file, caching an image from your browser etc etc etc
