It means if you're not doing anything then the battery will last this long. If you're on facebook, listening to itunes and writing your cv then it will probably half that time.

It's essentially a made up number, the bigger the number the better BUT it does depend on usage and settings etc.

10+ hours. Does that mean not switching the light up? Not using the harddrive? Not using wifi and only typing buttons on the netbook?

It does have an LED screen, so is actually quite good. Would wait for windows 7!

imo definately better than the nc10. Better processor, and a number of other things.
The nc10 is getting a little old now

I have the 1000HE (9.5 hr battery life) and can easily get 6 hours of movie playing out of it. If just doing light word processing then the full time would be available. I definately would buy this going by my experience with the 1000HE.

It can play .mkvs with VLC installed but I would not expect to play blu ray rips. Standard def AVC encodes should be fine.

I think mkvs may be a little too much for it (I have not got mine yet though) but im not certain

EDIT: according to COUNTFILTH's post above, it should do avc encoded mkvs fine.

The new nvidia ion graphics chip will do this fine; although virtually no netbooks have this yet and its a hell of a lot of money more.

The only one I know of is the samsung 1150? or something like that?
But that is a very large netbook, verging on a laptop, and its also around £500
