Posting personal information of other members/public

It's always gone on, but isn't it about time that HUKD actively discouraged this practice?

I have lost count of how many times I have seen my name posted in "The Misc" for entertainment purposes.

The moderators will remove/edit it out, but the same handful of members continue to do so.
Are they actually asked no to do so when a moderator edits/deletes their post?

I believe that last nights "goings on" was another step too far with members posting pictures from social networking sites on here with out the persons permission. All in the name of entertainment.

They are uncertain of the identity, but are happy to post the pictures and laugh, even posting pictures of someone who they think is the sister of a member of HUKD, and implying what they would like to do to them.

No doubt, these pics will be saved on HUKD members hard drives to be posted at every oppurtunity as a chance to ridicule other HUKD members, just as removed youtube videos are posted despite this being against youtubes policy.

If the author of the pictures/videos removed or blocked them, surely HUKD members shouldn't be allowed to post them for their own titillation?

its a good point you make Saint, deffo with family members being brought into stuff is out of order i agree with that.

I did think members were having a giggle? Some comments were to far and removed (some were suspended and infracted), it's alright for them to dish it out in other ways but not alright for them to receive the so called 'ridicule' Sorry The Saint but this isn't a prison? You publicly put your name on a website, members can do what they want with that information on the internet, it's not up to the admin staff to take sides in Misc, they are only there to stop people stepping out of line which they do.

At the end of the day you posted all the information people have on you freely, on the internet, people didn't search 'random man' on facebook and get your information or anyone elses, you posted.

The so called people who have been ridiculed give as good as they get, and are probably enjoying the attention, I really don't feel like they would be posting a thread regarding there "public" rights on a "public" forum. (tbh from what I saw were joining in 'playfully'.)

Your a grown adult if you can't take people posting 'pictures' of you, you need to stop giving them snippets of information, I post bits of my information from time to time on this forum knowing full well it could be used agains't me.

seriously though.....it was soooo funny that thread, i must have missed it when it got nasty though and people were banned or whatever.....there is always a line and i think the Mods are good at their jobs imo

would have to agree.

If you didnt kick up a stink about it, no-one would have known it was your "real" name.

Mods have their current method of dealing with such thing, no need to change it just because you feel annoyed by it. Many people are annoyed by many goings on on here, and like dog_cop says, you are the first into the thread to riddicule them about it when they want somthing doing.

So, time to take a chill pill, step away from that keyboard dude!

If someone proudly proclaims to be something they are obviously not and evidence is there in the public domain which demonstrates otherwise - then frankly they only have their own stupidity to blame.........

Family members are another matter and they should be removed or blanked out.

If you want anonymity on HDUK then don't trade/buy and don't tell anyone your name......simple.

I posted a pic last night from Facebook as i'm sure i recognised the pic from somewhere,BUT as Adam has already said,if it's readily available for ALL to see on Facebook, why shouldn't i post it on here.

It wasn't a personal or private pic,so what's the big deal.

and also if you don't want others to ridicule you don't lie or share your dreary life on here as people will pick holes in the lies and mock , which is deserved ..people need to learn to keep their mouths shut.. but the failsafe is run crying to the mods

so you are complaining about people posting photos that are freely available on the internet?
Simple rule, don't post photos of yourself that you don't want others to see.
Strictly speaking, posting a photograph on here is a breach of copyright if the photo doesn't belong to the poster or the poster doesn't have permission to post it. If that happens then the only real redress you will have is to have it removed, which it sounds like has been done. If the members doing it have also been suspended then what more are you wanting? Surely suspending someone is actively discouranging the practice?

I agree, with you, I think the problem is that the members who were "attacked" last night are probably the most well know members in the site.Obviously being #1 people are not going to like that. I mean on the said facebook link, the person had a friend whos name was "harvey",so one member thought it was me. Im sure members know other peoples first name on here, but they didnt bother searching there name on the persons facebook friend list, why? because there not that important.
^all IMO of course, come with the territory

I agree it with a step too far, who knows who's that face book account was, I dont mind that pictures were posting as its public to see on facebook, but some of the things said about the pictures maybe should not of been said.


having said that a few members were suspended OP, straight after the face book threads, so I think the mods are doing something about it, as always keep up the good work mods
