Modern Warfare 2 and the proposed Postal strike

Having preordered my copy of Modern Warfare 2 from Zavvi, I thought great now I've just got to wait for it to get here. But as current postal workers look destined to strike I started to get nervous about my game getting to me in time for launch day, as I'm sure Manu of you are. I decided to email zavvi regarding my order and unfortunately I can't copy the message they replied with onto here (possible problems with iPhone, only let's me view the message for about 4 seconds then closes!) I have been assured about the expected shipping date, they state that they will try and get the game shipped by the 7/11/09. And may take 3 to 5 working days, but then that doesn't account for any delays that may occur if Royal Mail workers do strike!
Had anyone any idea if we are guaranteed postage of said item in time for launch?

why oh why didnt you opt to pick it up at the shop?

you are guaranteed postage from the seller IE zavvi - meaning they will ship it out

you are not guaranteed the date it arrives, especially on unforseen circumstances IE postal strikes

I think you'll find a lot of business shipping with other companys instead of the Royal Mail if the postal strike continues. But watch this space.

no big deal go out and buy it if it doesnt turn up and then either take the unopened 1 back to the shops or send it back to whoever....

keep the cheapest 1

To spend online as they have only online stores now as HMV bought 75% of the stores of them as we had the contract to change them over

i'v cancelled my hmv prestige pre-order, jusr can't justify the price and now cancelled my shopto pre-order

I'm ging to go into game and get it with the trade in option, at least i know i'll get it on release day

Very few physical shops left though.

The competition code works online - That's where I ordered MW2 too :P Hoping it actually comes (Not worried if on time, just want it to get here based on my previous experience with TheHut group - Scumbags, but I couldn't pass this up).

Saying as you have ordered it from Zavvi you have nothing to worry about as the postal strike has no bearing on you not getting your game on time.

At least Map pack 1 will be out by the time Zavvi ship yours :

Yeah. Not looking good at the moment. Last year gears of war 2 came a day early if modem warfare 2 does them that'll be great. But obviously that'll be hard with a postal strike. I may wait then go on the night to tesco or wherever also. Just in case. I want the hardened edition rather than the bog standard. I like all the little extras that tend to come with a special edition, and the original copy of call of duty is also a nice little bonus. Fingers crossed anyway.

I've still got 2 on order there, will more than likely cancel soon as they will not arrive on R day for sure from HMV free postage regardless of any postal strike

My son is buying 2x mw consoles after I canceled the 2 mw limited ed consoles I had on order at game with M$ taking out 3 cables from package making the 360 an SDTV console out of the box by only supplying a dot crawl composite cable.
