Draper 76mm Reflector Telescope



A Dobsonian (Newtonian) reflector telescope with 76mm reflector lens, ideal for viewing the sky at night. Especially for observing nebulae. moons, planets and galaxies. Altazimuth mounted, this is a great beginners telescope. Focal length 700mm (f9). Supplied with, x3 Barlow lens, 5 x 24 finderscope, aluminium tripod and accessory tray.

Good price for a started but I don't think a 76mm is going to show you alot of nebulae...

Kids will probably be bored after they have seen the moon anyway! I used to do a lot as a kid but times have changed, maybe i will upgrade for myself by Xmas next year !!

This has an Altazimuth mount which makes it useless for any astronomical purposes. For astronomy you need an equatorial mount. Altazimuth mounts are designed for terrestrial use. Also, you need at least a six inch scope for astronomy, this will show very little. I haven't voted on this, just making a comment as an ex astronomer.

Thanks for the info, i used to use one half of a pair of binoculars, to be followed by a tasco telescope, when i was young! For the kids this will be good enough, ifi get my interest, (and time), back i will bearin mind what you have said.
