Which is the best/cheapest cable to get to connect a laptop to a tv?

POSTED BY: sourcelives 5 months, 48 minutes ago

The tv doesnt have an s-video port only the 3 RCA ones.. The laptop has a VGA and HDMI port. I assume I have to get a vga-rca cable but loads of places have stated that it doesnt allow you to connect your laptop to your tv to watch videos etc..

Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance

VGA-RCA is unlikely to work ,It will only work if your laptop supports TV out from the VGA socket,

http://ati.amd.com/products/mobility...600/specs.html

Integrated AMD Xilleon™ HDTV encoder
Provides high quality analog TV output (component/S-video/composite)
Supports SDTV and HDTV resolutions
Underscan and overscan compensation
MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1, and H.264/AVC encoding and transcoding
Seamless integration of pixel shaders with video in real time
VGA mode support on all display outputs

spend a couple of quid and find out... says it does it in specs (as long as the specs are for a mobility radeon hd )

Just a couple of quid wasted if they lied and a bit of hassle for you

Starting again ,Does your TV not have a hdmi socket ?., Are the RCA connectors red/green/blue (component) ?.If they are then search Ebay for VGA to component lead / cable and give it a try,If this doesnt work you will need a VGA to Component convertor box which is quite a bit more expensive,

They are the right ones it's just the ends are female rca ----- you need to buy your own rca to rca to use them or use ones you have in house from any previous vcr/dvd player purchase

Yes you need VGA to composite then ,the yellow socket carries the video and the red and white are audio which you will need an audio cable for,
