Finally!! A good free app to compete against National Rail who charges a ridiculous £4.99 for theirs, this alternative is completely FREE!

I particularly like the fact that you can download timetables and use it offline. Must have for commuters and people who travel often.

This is the official app from thetrainine and is perfect for anyone who needs to access timetables and plan rail travel. You can also download timetables and refer to them anytime, whether your iPhone (or iPod touch) is online or not.

good find, yeah Nat Rail app is a rip off, I've been using their website over 3G which sometimes was a headache :( in itself

Good find, tried it but trainline servers don't seem to want to bring back any details

Also tried another free app doing the same called 'Train Search' by crosscountry, which does work for my, probable worth getting this as well as a backup

Thanks v. much for finding this.
I was shocked when I saw how much the National Rail Enquiries app. cost so I continued to use the trainline.com web site on my mobile instead. This should hopefully prove to be a much quicker and simpler to use. Heat & Rep. added.

Great app. But missing one essential piece of information when you carry out a search. The platform number you need to be on.

This is crucial bit of information when you're in a rush and your journey has interchanges. Some stations have 10, 20 platforms and you can't go around wasting time.
