Yeah i know you can do it cheaper with a USB IR sensor (I do this myself) but if you want the FULL command set and don't want to use up a USB port this is what you want.

pretty sure this would be cheaper than an IR4PS3. not sure what he'S asking for them anymore, but it used to be $68 plus shipping for the version that includes the BT transmitter - so you're talking at least $80-$85 (over £50, plus another 17.5% tax, plus Royal Mail's surcharges).

By comparison, I think the logitech version is a very nicely designed, fully functional solution. Still, it is not a cheap option, and it is purely luxury, but for those with the money to spare, this is the best way of doing it.

Being a pronto man never been a great fan of the the Harmony stuff, can't remember what the IR4PS3 DIY kit cost but I am sure the total build cost was around £30ish. Horses for courses kinda thing

Me too until my (2nd) pronto died and I could justify the cost of replacement, bought a harmony and haven't looked back! Hard buttons are soooo much easier to use, the configuration is a doddle, and the tech support is awesome! I should add that the only reason I needed the tech support was because I was trying to do something weird and wonderful - they modded my config for me and all I had to do was press the update button.

Also wasn't there an issue with Sony upgrading the firmware on the PS3 and the USB>IR adapters stopped working? Sure this was fixed but the Logitech one mimics the Sony Bluetooth remote so that shouldn't be an issue.

IR4PS3 is made by ripping apart official PS3 remote so no compatability probs, anyway this is kinda getting away from the deal in question. I was merely pointing out alternative available at a similar price, whether or not they are better is something for more technical forums like remotecentral

Allows you to use an IR Logitech Harmony remote with a PS3 (PS3 only has Bluetooth built in for remotes not IR)

It converts the IR signal from your Harmony Remote to bluetooth commands
