With the supplied i-gotU software, you can now keep a record of your own journey by simply pressing the log button* when you take a photo. By ensuring your digital camera and tracker clocks are synchronised, you can easily upload a travel blog of your journey and associated pictures to software such as Yahoo Flickr to quickly share photos and videos with your friends and family online. The software enables you to create an HTML file for your friends to see the route of your trip on software such as Google Earth along with pictures you have taken on the way!

*There is no need to "press the button" if it is set to record the location at short enough intervals. The software also allows you to export the route in GPX format, to use with third party software.

Alternatively, the GPS travel tracker could even be used to retrospectively track a route of your pet or vehicle, providing detailed information on its whereabouts, velocity, date and time over a given period, without you having been there! The tracker can be set to log your GPS location at preset or user defined intervals and using digitised street mapping on Google Maps or Google Earth, the i-gotU software can accurately report travel activities such as where a vehicle or a pet went to, when it was there and how long it stayed there.

The GPS travel tracker can also be used with compatible third party software (not supplied) such as Microsoft Autoroute as a GPS receiver.

They can usually get a lock on from your bag, or else just put it in top of your bag once it has locked on

One of the best programs to use is memory map to see your route on OS maps, speed, elevation, 3D view etc, but it is expensice.

Just been reading up on it and a few things to be aware of is the battery can't be replaced (easily at least), It can only GeoTag JPEG's (will only bother people that shoot in RAW) and it doesn't record elevation.

Still tempted.

I use 2 of these (1 in each plane) to geotag my photos while do AP (Aerial Photography)

They are very small, weigh ****** all and the logging rate can be set from 1sec which give 4hrs logging to days, but dont expect the battery to last that long

The most Ive had out of it is about 10hrs logging at 30 secs intervals whilst walking
it comes with a removalbe cover (the blue neporene thingy) and a usb holder/cradle. The software is on mini cd but a leter version you can get from the website

Its fairly easy to use when youve played with it for a while. The software does all the work and will add the gps data to the exif file for each photo, you only need to make sure the camera date and time are set accuartly. There are 3 different screens that give information with Google Maps as the base. You can export data in .gpx (used by many mapping programs eg. Memory Map), these can be used to interrogate the data further, height/speed profiles, or can be exported into CSV

I got mine off EBay for about £35 delivered from HK, so this is cheaper. Dont let the non-replaceable battery put you off,, I expect to get about 3years usage out of mine then I will hack it apart to see what I can do with it

Cool. I thought somewhere I had read it didn't thats cool. Cool info about the RAW files too I did suspect someone might have sorted programs to do that. Very tempted now.

All you are doing is linking the gps data to the time the photo was taken, In my case while I'm flying in a smallish area. If you do it while on holiday you could say exactly where each photo was taken thus stopping all those arguments

If youve got a really good photo, then knowing where it was taken could help if you want to get it shown on Google Maps

There is lots of software available for either windows, mac or linux
