Thanks for posting. We managed to get a big one from our Local Co-op for £1.50, but think it was last one and was priced for quick sale.

Tesco's were doing their big 'uns for £3.50!

I was at the Canary Wharf ASDA last night at they were miserable excuses for pumpkins. All were about the size of a mini football. The Tesco in Surrey Quays were far more adequate for £2 each.

The sizes of pumpkins will probably be store specific. Good luck.

A cut pumpkin left outside and away from rain / direct sunlight will last a week. We're cutting ours this friday night.

Some people store their pumpkin in the fridge, or put vaseline on the cut surfaces to prolong the life, but I've never bothered.

If you find it getting a little too soft just before halloween, you can soak it in the tub in cold water for an hour and it will firm up a bit.
