This won't be for everyone... I understand some people will think you should get a complete bike for this money. So only really for MTB fanatics!
I bought one and was tempted to buy one for the Mrs but I put some feelers out and she is happy with her £400 Specialized - not as fanatical about this sort of thing... (prefers Cloe bags)
I stumbled across this the other day while trying to overcome a dilemma of how I was going to use my full suspension bike while my rear shock is being serviced. The original plan was to get a second hand Titanium frame off the bay and when a 10 year old model came up in my size I was watching with the intention of paying up to £500 for it. It eventually finished on £670 - not much less than this new one.
I remembered previously reading some reviews on it and it causing a bit of a storm that any bike should get a perfect score. The bottom line for the high scores is that for £999 it was a bargain and an equivalent comparison frame would cost you closer to £1500 - £2000. It is British designed and built by Lynskey in the US who used to be a major part of Litespeed. This is not a Taiwan or Russian made frame and for this quality at this price with such a weak pound you'd all be crazy not to buy two.
The 456 denotes the ability to use 4", 5" or 6" suspension forks without messing up the handling of the bike.
Also available in 29" wheel version.

THE ULTIMATE FREERIDE HARDTAIL - ON-ONE TI 456
The ti 456 remains the only mountain bike we know of to score a 'Torvill n Dean' like set of perfect scores in What Mountain Bike, thats 10/10 on value, performance and quality. It still is, and remains, the undisputed champion of the freeride hardtail market.
Mark Lynskey just added a rear strengthening strut to increase strength on the rear end, its not the prettiest addition or the subtlest, but the ti 456 is a simple beast for all day fun on the moors.
Don't take our word for it! Read the reviews.
