Multimedia Hard Drives

POSTED BY: londonlynxeffect 1 month, 14 hours ago

I am currently looking at purchasing a Multimedia Hard Drive I wonder if anyone could give me any recommendations for one.

I am looking for it to contain the following features:

Remote Control
HDMI
USB
Recording Capabilities
Min 1tb capacity
Able to connect to my network by either wireless or ethernet.

Thanks for your help in advance.

what you are looking for is a "media center PC " or "htpc", A HARD DRIVE IS A COMPONENT INSIDE A PC.
it helps to know that when shopping ;)

Thanks for the tip the recording part is not a necessity but would be nice - looking more to back up my dvd's/films with an easy play system hence media player rather than just straight hard drive, and just do not have the time to build my own or the skills.

not sure how user friendly the set up is, shouldn't be too bad think you may need to read up on re-encoding dvds on your pc to transfer to the player, other than that hard drive space is important, allow enough for you at decent quality
music@150 tracks or 10 albums per gigabyte
pictures depends on camera file size
video@dvd quality with good encoding at approx 4 films per 3GB
