FS: Acer Aspire 1680 Laptop RRP £500 (video card connection loose selling for £125)

POSTED BY: botoxdoc 1 month, 4 days ago

Used Acer Aspire 1680 laptop purchased for around £500 about a year ago. Some specs / reviews below.

Pentium M Intel Centrino 1.5 GHz. DVD rewriter / CDRW, 512 MB of RAM and a 15" Crystal bright widescreen LCD. 30GB HDD. AC Charger. WiFi Adaptor Built in. 3 USB ports and PCMCIA slots. Card Reader.

Reviews: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Acer_Aspire_1680__5767762

Please note: laptop itself is FULLY FUNCTIONAL but display card connection seems to be loose as colour changes on screen come on which resolve when you press on the body of the laptop. I suspect the connector inside is just loose, hence the price of £120. Total bargain for those good with laptops. Screen/LCD itself is fully functional.

Selling for just £120.

Asking Price: 125.00

Shipping/Payment Instructions: PREFER COLLECT IN BRIGHTON ONLY BEFORE FRI 30/10/09. Will post in UK only also for payment made via Paypal/BACS.

Please give a few days for me to respond as I'm on the road right now. Thanks

If it's < year old, then it'll be covered by warranty?

Ok .. have you tested this with an external monitor?

If the problem occurs on an external monitor then it's more than just a loose connection.

I doubt it is with specs like that. That is about 2-3 year old specs I'd say.

£500 was a rip off, but could have been bought in a local computer shop

if you paid even 300 for this a year ago you were well and truely ripped off big time. Those specs are about 3-4 years old easily.

Yeah all seems a bit odd

OP : perhaps if you test it with an EXT monitor we'll know a bit more ... ?
