STARTS: 24/10/2009 EXPIRES: 31/10/2009
I realise this isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea...The Saw films are like Marmite - either you love them or hate them. I really enjoy them personally and even though I go to the cinema every week, I must say that the release of each new installment in the series has been one of the highlights of my year (at least relating to films).
Today, Saw 6 is released and to celebrate/promote the new film, Showcase cinemas are offering you the chance to watch all six Saw films back to back in a 'Saw Movie Marathon' at selected cinemas. There are actually two of these 'marathons' taking place - on Saturday 24th October and on Halloween (Saturday 31st October) - at Showcase Bluewater, Showcase Cinema de Lux Bristol, Showcase Cinema de Lux Derby and Showcase Cinema de Lux Leicester. The latter three cinemas are very new (I know Derby and Leicester only opened in the last 12 months) and have luxurious seating (They are called Cinema De Lux as opposed to the standard out of town Showcase cinemas). This may also be the case for the Bluewater cinema although I don't know.
Tickets cost £10 (however many installments you see) and you can watch as many as you like - for example, like someone suggested, you could watch Saw 1 and 2 and then go out for dinner and come back to watch Saw 5 and 6. This is excellent value for money, especially considering that tickets just to watch Saw 6 alone would cost £6-7.
The films are scheduled at the following times:
Saw 2.35 pm
Saw II 4.30 pm
Saw III 6.15 pm
Saw IV 8.30 pm
Saw V 10.15 pm
Saw VI 12 pm
In case you didn't know (in that case you are a dumbass), all films are certified 18.
Please don't vote this deal cold just because you don't like the Saw films - just consider the deal on the basis of being able to watch 6 films at a cinema for only £10. (Having said this I am sure there will be some people voting this cold and saying things like 'The Saw films are trash and I would have to be paid to watch them'.)
Regarding the cost of food and drink which has been mentioned, I suggest that if you go to the Movie Marathon, you buy food and drink from shops/outlets nearby - all of the participating cinemas are located inside large shopping centres (which should stay open late on Saturdays). There appear to be breaks of around 15 minute in between each film (each film has a duration of around 90 mins) so there is time to do this. I will probably have a Boots Meal Deal for lunch and a Burger King meal for dinner. I may even buy some small drinks from a shop (e.g. 250ml cartons of orange juice) and surreptitiously take them into the cinema with me to avoid paying over the odds!
