One of the best strategy games around, if you've ever felt the Total War series' campaigns were lacking then this is the game for you. There is a new expansion pack 'Heir to the Throne' due soon but this contains the game and both released expansion packs.

How does this compare with CIV?
It's a longer game, you can't finish a game in three hours, and it doesn't have that headlong rush against the clock of Civ4.

Armies and battles are similar, but territory is completely different. Instead of owning what ever you grab it's much closer to the way real nations work with provinces you have to take in peace deals and 'cores' to denote rightful/accepted ownership. You can still build a huge empire if you want though.
