Any guys use electric shavers?

POSTED BY: silkymolo 1 month, 21 hours ago

I tried posting in deal requests but only got one response (which was somewhat helpful) so thought I would try the good people of misc.

I want to get my OH an electric shaver for Xmas, but don't really know what makes a decent shaver. I'm after getting one for as cheap as possible which gives a good shave, preferably rechargable, and if you can pay by Paypal, bonus!

Any ideas anyone? The one response I got was for Boots because a load are on offer, but don't know which ones are any good.

I've always used a philishave, not worth buying cheap in this department IMO, paid about £90 for my current one, has lasted 3 years so far, just change the blades every 2 years (£25 eBay)

Lol! No it's a fully formed beard when grown. He is just a bit lazy and doesn't like shaving! Thought something that could give a decentish shave in between wet shave would be good! (He works in a bank so could do with looking a bit smarter lol!)

1 quality gift or several items of tat?

I know what i'd prefer.

Here's a decent one on a good offer at Amazon for £60

edit: £47 @ Laskys

For what it's worth - I agree with the comments above - they do tend to give you a rash, as the pressure you apply to the skin to get a 'close' shave often irritates it, as the heat from the electric shaver warms up.. Yes there is nothing better than a decent razor and wet shave....

BUT.....

Sometimes you can be just too dammed lazy to wet shave or there just isn't enough stubble to make it worth it to get that 'baby fresh' face.....
So, what do you do... You go for the quick option of picking up the electric razor and hey presto, begore you knowit you are finished... Without having to get wet and foamy etc... And in some cases you are wandering around the house with a slice of toast in one hand and a cordless shaver in the other!
IF you do go for one, as the others have said, go for the best your budget can afford though, as the foil on them and springs is often what separates a good razor from a bad one.....
Good luck with whatever decision you choose... Happy to help if needed.

Thanks for that, shall check 'em out. I would have spent a bit more but already got him a coat, and aftershave so far. But £47-£60 is doable

Both hubby and son swear by Phillips rechargeables - hubby does find he gets a rash after a few days but it's a trade off when we're on holiday lol as saves time over a wet shave :-)

There's a good selection at Argos as well as online.

Rotary philishave everytime

I don't get a rash with a Philishave but do when wet shaving. I recommend you get a Philishave that can be cleaned under the tap.......

Lots of choice on here and some guides as well
http://www.shavers.co.uk/

They sometimes do some very good deals but shop around as they are not always the cheapest.

all my mates bang on about this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Cool...6414070&sr=8-2

looks like a gimmick to me but they swear by em saying they're great once you get past the learning phase for your skin...

I've heard they are good but the thought of shelling out for the moisturiser sachets put me off.....
