Mobile Phone 'deals'

POSTED BY: OneGuysLife 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Is it just me, or are all these 'deals' where people are calling up mobile phone companies and getting 'x' amount of minutes and texts for a certain price not a deal? Take a look at this one;

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/511392/t-mobile-g2-htc-hero-800mins-500-te?page=2

The guy called up, got lucky with who he spoke to and what he said and managed to swing a good offer. In my opinion, that isn't a 'deal' at all. He got lucky, and is giving everyone else a heads up. People can't just call up and get that as a deal, so how can it be classed as a deal? Things like those should be posted in misc as a heads up.

Agreed. They are more of an info tip than a mainstream advertised deal. Simply due to the fact that not everyone will be eligible for the same "offer" when you call up the mobile company, therefore you may be offered an entirely different package.

But yeah, its not a "deal"...

Yup. It's different to people not being able to get deals due to not living near the stores that offer it, such as Home Bargains not being in the south etc. Ultimately, if a person wanted the deal it is readily available to them, even if they had to travel to get it.

Mobile phone deals are pot luck rather than deals. Getting tired of thinking 'Oooh, that's a good phone deal' only to find out it's not a deal at all.
