Sandisk Extreme III 8GB Compact Flash Card £29.99 @ Play

£29.99

207°

FOUND BY: Orville 4 weeks, 1 day ago

I have used Sandisk CF cards within all of my Canon DSLR's for years and they have never let me down. £29.99 seems like a bargain for a fast reliable 8GB CF card. You can get lesser branded cards cheaper, but the Pro's all use Sandisk for a reason.

I can remember when I paid this price for a 256Mb Compact Flash card

This is a good all round fast card at the cheapest price I have seen to date.

OP - I think you're doing yourself a dis-service with the picture there, dog.

You're showing the slower 20mbs card, but the link and price is definitely for the faster 30mbs card.

Very, very hot. Why can't they do the SD cards at this price?

I think an admin must have deleted my post as it contained a link to a camera cost comparing website.

Anyway, great price, heat added.

Bear in mind Jessops are still charging £69.99 for this and you'll see just what a bargain it is!

Would this give me anything more than the SANDISK class 2 8GB SDHC card I currently use in my Canon EOS 1000? Presumably it writes to the card quicker? Is it something I would notice in general use?

@ ApoBateman this isn't compatible with your camera. Your's is SDHC, this is Compact Flash.

If your camera supported Compact Flash (which it does not appear to) it would only be noticeably faster if you fill the frame buffer (shoot at max fps for extended periods). The chances are you would not notice the difference 99% of the time anyway.

I received my card today and it allows me to fire bursts of 19 frames at 8fps, before slowing to about 2fps. The reason for the slowdown is that my Canon 7D's RAW files are over 20MB's per picture. I purchased my card was because I needed high-capacity and reliability. The speed is a bonus and the price is better than I have seen before.
