A Celeron processor is as good as a stick of celery in a laptop. They should be used only in pocket calculators.

Whilst I agree Celeron's are clank, it's a case of "what you want to do" with a laptop - or desktop for that matter.

Why pay more for a higher end CPU that you'll never use to it's capability? If a lower end CPU does the job you want it to a lot of people will be satisfied more by the saving than irrelevant performance!

agree

think that the Celeron single core is at least twice as fast as Atom installed in most netbooks and nobody complains

That's quite a piece of disinformation as you can probably tell from the posts above. I've been using an Acer 5020 with a Turion 64 cpu for about 4 years now and it manages perfectly well with the likes of Photoshop CS2. This Celeron is faster than that old Turion so it should be more than fine for home use.

Nothing wrong with a Celeron in a 230 quid laptop ! Horses for courses.....

As I said, mine was 20 gigs - on the label anyway... Thanks to all the people who stated lower even if only for making me feel young. That said I was a late starter with PCs!

Kev... Sorry mate but just got distracted by your avatar... Reminded me of diagrams in biology lessons back at school... Guffaw!
