Wardieboy:
Anyone know if these mics would be any good for linking to a PC and using for recording acoustic guitars / music etc?
I am building a budget home studio and while I appreciate these won't compete with dedicated mics the quality maybe acceptable for recirding ideas etc?
Hmmmm, I would doubt it, if you did manage to record anything from these it would sound rubbish! You may as well get a couple of cheap Karaoke mics of the market for £5, but expect your recordings to sound tinny/distorted.
Serioulsy as someone that records a lot, save your money and invest in some Shure mics, SM57 and the SM58. The SM57 is a dedicated instrument mic, while the SM58 is geared more towards vocals but could still be used for a range of things.
SM58 = £54.99 + £9.19 p&p from an Amazon seller (alba_electronics )
SM57 = £83 (unsure of shipping costs) from a site called Stage Gear
Those are just two quick examples I was able to find (may find cheaper elsewhere) Also check out the Samson Q7 it's a decent all rounder if you just want to get moving on the cheap, and it is cheap at around £29.99 from dv247.
Can't believe I'm posting all this on a singstar thread! LOL anyway hope that helps in some way.
EDIT: Oh just thought I'd say if you do look for mics on fleabay (especially Shure mics) there are tons of cheap fakes on there, so be careful and read the fraud guides on there, don't be sucked in by the prices.
