Compaq (HP) Mini 311c 11.6" netbook, Nvidia Ion graphics, with internal 3g - £323.10 @ hp.com

£323.10

257°

FOUND BY: anewman 3 weeks, 3 days ago

Waiting for this deal to be panned and go sub-zero now, as I just ordered one and £323.10 is a lot of money for me :-( lol. Note it currently says an order takes up to 2 weeks.

Down points on this are N270 (rather than slightly faster n280), battery life has been tested to be 5 hours 30 mins by a review which is not quite so good as the 9 hours or so of the higher spec Asus 1005ha. Only Windows XP but I have my Tesco win 7 pre-order disc sat doing nothing and I suspect when they are released with 7 the price will go up. No "N" wifi, but do you really need faster than "G"! Silly combined headphone/microphone jack.

Benefits are internal 3g, 11.6" 1366x768 screen (higher res than most netbooks), bluetooth, 1gb soldered and free dimm slot means 3gb max (HP misreport as 1gb max but widely discussed on the net that you can add a 2gb stick) and Ion LE graphics which are able to output 1080p with the HDMI port. Ion LE graphics apparently are just the Ion crippled by the drivers to appease Microsoft's XP license regulations (link to follow).

Price is £359, discounted to £323.10 when you enter the code HPQUIDCO at checkout.

Also don't forget to go through quidco or topcashback (thanks to pet2000) for 8% cashback. £297.25 AFTER cashback!

If it had Windows 7 installed I would have considered ordering one as I really want my next netbook to have a hdmi out & 3g.
Seems like a good deal, voted hot, but not what I'm looking for.

Many netbooks will come with Windows 7 starter which has a silly limitation that you cannot change the desktop wallpaper and you don't get the fancy Windows 7 Aero interface (but an upgrade to home premium is offered at a price - not sure what that is yet). I have read some netbooks (including this model) will be released with home premium and 2 or 3gb (this is because the licensing conditions for starter limit the machine to 1gb.)

That one doesn't mention integrated 3G. It's also available at Amazon for £319.99 with free delivery.

Has no internal 3g! (That's the 311c-1010SA and this is the 311c-1030SA). An extra £8.10 to not have to have a dongle sticking out the USB port Also don't forget 8% quidco is £25.85 (remember to allow for their yearly fee if you don't use quidco which I think is £5). My Quidco hasn't tracked yet, will give it some more time, not sure what to do if it doesn't.

Note that the first link in the second post shows the same one as @ overclockers cheaper

Price is £359. Topcashback also pays 8% and has no fee (Quidco is £5) (Quidco should not be included in quoted price).

Add code HPQUIDCO at checkout for the discounted price Cashback is *NOT* included in price at the top! Have edited deal to make clearer

All correct, it'll also come with an option to upgrade the hard drive to 250gb or 320gb and the windows 7 version will have full ion graphics so well worth waiting a while

See link http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=2571 This *has* full Ion graphics All you have to do is add a few characters to an INF file Nvidia just crippled the drivers to please Microsoft for the XP license it would seem prior to Windows 7.

As the hard drive is easily accessible I figured I could take the 320gb hard disc out of my Tesco Iomega 320gb hard disc and slot that in.
