Free Full MOT History of Your Car - Details of Every Fail Item and Advisory on all MOTs

POSTED BY: flashyphotos 4 weeks, 12 hours ago

This is a really useful if you purchase a second hand car at any time with an MOT (Or check the MOT History of your car back to its first MOT) (Subject to it being a Computerised Entry MOT)

Not only does it show the Date of Each MOT and the Mileage of the car (Useful for checking clocking).

But it also shows the full history of each MOT, including any reasons for a failure and advisories given.

As some times you buy a car with a pass certificate but it could have had hidden problems marked as advisory that will come back to bite you in the future.

You Need

1: Registration Number of your car
2: Serial Number from Last MOT Certificate or Serical Number from V5 Doc

http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-Internet-History-Request.jsp

And off you go.

Well worth a check to see if there are any things you may need to keep an eye on in the future.

For example, My one showed my Fiat Multipla has a tendancy to need new Track Rod ends and wears tyres each year

only went back 4 years for me on my 10 year old car

interesting to see Nationwide failed mine in October 2005 for 2 faults and wanted £300 for repair so MOT'd it elsewhere and it passed. Took it back to Nationwide in 2008 & 2009 and it seems to have repaired itself as it passed!

I think it depends on the stations and if they were manual or electronic MOTs,

Mine went back to its first MOT (5 Years)

I've been using this for years.

You can also check whether a car is insured on the ASKMID data base for free.

Bit of a ****** that they only go back to when the first computerised MoT was done on the vehicle :( My Land Rover is 40 years old so I can only check a few years back...

Actually, the last place that MoT'd it should be shut down. I bought it with a full MoT and after I had checked it there is no way it should have passed. Dodgy brakes (fixed by me ), poor sterring (local garage did that) and various lights not workling because the wiring had frayed (again, now fixed by me).

Thanks a lot.
Just checked and the fault my car currently has (and in garage for) was also one of the reasons it failed it's last MOT (before I bought it). Suspicious. And really annoying!

annoys the hell out of me when you see the police stop someone and ask stupid bloody questions like "is it insured" cause any sod can go online and check this stuff out so why they waste time asking?

I got stopped once because it was the first of the month and i had forgot to put my new tax disk out which yes was my fault but for some reason I then had to goto my local station and show it was insured and was mine. Really a tool just to annoy people really.

rant over

I thought everyone knew about this?

Don't forget you can find out the quite alot about a car by pretending to sell in via ebay just by putting the registration number in and viewing the details that come up don't even need log book reference code!

Comes up with all kind of stuff like model, cc, previous owners, etc

Did you know that if a garage faults you on your MOT to try and make money you can report them to the dvla and get their MOT licence taken away.

This is providing that your another MOT garage finds no faults with your car.

It only goes back as far as electronic MOT were brought in, so will only give you about 3 or 4 years max. But that’s better than nothing!!!
