Hah, just ranted at my partner about this. Sure it's a good deal, but WHY would I want a movie pre loaded onto my HDD? Particularly that one!

Apples and pears. There is no SATA drive inside this. The usb interface is connected directly onto the drive in place of SATA. It will look something like this inside:

No good for opening to upgrade your laptop's hard disk.

Apples and pears.
Not really. I was using the price as a reference for 500GB of portable storage space. Some people buy internal drives to slap in an external enclosure, which I was showing would be more expensive. At no point did I suggest this should be bought with the intention of ripping apart and taking the drive out...

Is this the Samsung model that has the quick transfer speeds? Does anybody know how this compares to the recent WD 500GB drive posted here recently? Thanks

Importantly: will the credit card inside the actual drive be real? ;)

Samsung do make their own hard drives and they'd be shooting themselves in the foot here if they used someone else's I think

It's a loaded question. No matter what HDD manufacturer you ask about you will get people chiming in about how their drive failed on them and no one should buy drives from this manufacturer The truth is every manufacturer has had their drives fail on some poor sod.

Samsung, in my opinion, probably give the best balance of performance mixed with very low noise so that's why I choose them for my own systems and for builds and repairs for customers. Not had one die yet. WD are next on my list and although I had one die on me in the past, I won't hold that against them as it's inevitable eventually.

I think it's a real bargain. Looking on Ebuyer at drives in this price range and they're all 320GB
