1.5TB Samsung HD154UI Spinpoint F2 DT EcoGreen Scan £77.03 delivered

£77.03

70°

FOUND BY: jomppa 3 weeks, 1 day ago

Or £68.99 with free delivery if you have it on your account (avforums members).

Weighing this up against the 1.0TB disks (Western Digital) going for around £55-57 from Amazon and this seems like a better deal.

This is in Today's Specials and is slightly more if you go through the normal search.

:-)

Price now gone down to £69.88 inc delivery

These are only 5400rpm where the 1TB's are 7200rpm so the 1TB's are a bit faster & cheaper so i think i would still go for a 1TB drive

A wise consumer would think that there must be a reason why Scan specifically include this warning:
"Model HD154UI/JP1 is NOT designed to be used in Desktop but specifically made for use with Docking/Rack/Caddy Use Only"

I'd take it to indicate that the device is absolutely fine as an external unit for backup purposes and the like but not for a high-intensity "production" use. It seems to be a 3-platter F2 disk - I think I'll plump for the 1TB F3 HD103SJ even though this one has more GB per quid.

1.5Tb is hell of a lot of storage to lose if it died!

3x 1TB in Raid5 should do the trick

JonBoy, I assumed that note was a comment on what other suppliers may be selling, i.e. a variant of the drive having a slightly different product code with "JP1" at the end? In context, it comes after they said this:

"Important Note: We sell the proper version only, It works Everywhere. Peace of mind with Scan! Always!"

I ordered one (from Scan) anyway. If you order from them using the Today Only page it also comes with a free cable!
