Does anyone think it's worth paying a bit extra for the Sony Mark 2 8GB version?

Very nice price!

and to answer the above post, no, Sandisk memory sticks IMO are fine, and I have had better experiences with them than the Sony ones.

Took me about 35 minutes to install the Gran Turismo data from the UMD for some reason (sandisk 2gb gaming edition), whereas it's down on the instruction booklet as more like 15.

Can't see why you'd really need one of this size unless you've got a lot films to watch, or you pirate your games (which i'm glad to see is getting harder - there aren't enough decent games out on the PSP as it is).

Don't forget though, Sony are going to be selling a lot of PSP games by digital download instead of UMD in the near future .

You may need the 8gb (perhaps more) in the near future

Wouldn't something like this work out alot cheaper: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18574

$3 for the adapter and then use the cheaper microSD cards. I think there is a difference in speed but for most applications it seems a better option :-)

As far as I am aware the "Gaming" version means it's a different colour, nothing else.

This is a very good deal.

Mark 2 type cards are only really necassary for HD video camcorders/digital cameras with HD recording. For still cameras/mobile phones this would be more than sufficient.

Although microSD>MemoryStick adaptors are available, these do not pass the 'MagicGate' test in certain devices e.g. PSP and T-series digital cameras (so some features do not work like HD video recording)
