Good Unlimited Broadband + Phone package

POSTED BY: Smithers37 3 weeks, 3 days ago

We are currently with Tiscali, a package that includes unlimited downloads, 8 meg connection and evening weekend calls. All for £16 a month inc line rental.
Now that TalkTalk (CPW) has taken over Tiscali, I think we will move our service with someone else. I know from working in a computer shop that TalkTalks service is appaling and bad value for money, they said our package will remain the same for now but they will want us to move over... over my dead body!

So I'm looking for a provider that can do atleast 8m broadband and a very light telephone package for no more than £20... 20 meg broadband would be nice too, I wouldn't mind paying up to £25 ish for that.

Anyone know of any deals? I can't find anything that is remotely good value. Cheers all and have a nice week end :-)

I've been with TalkTalk for the last year or so and they've been fine - not great but infinitely better than Tiscali were when I was with them 5 years ago.

What computer shop did you used to work for? PissyWorld? That's where all the computer users who are too stupid to change a fuse go to complain.

Well lucky you. I still work for a local computer shop where there are novices and people who are pretty up on computers go to shop.

- Thanks for the other posts guys.. I will definately investigate.

We recently moved house being a tiscali customer and looked at all the options available to us, we have broadband 8mg, phone is unlimited anytime with a lot of international calls for free and tv package including the variety mix with all the freebie channels plus sky1, bravo, gold etc. for I think around £25 a month including the phone line rental normally around £11 with all other suppliers.

Unless you want to spend £40+ per month, tiscali is reasonable quality, cheap option. Their customer service is a nightmare though telling you all sorts of different things each time you phone them. Once you get set up everything from my experience is fine.

All right then. If you're convinced by hearsay that TalkTalk are the worst ISP around, you could try O2 who tend to get recommended most often on HUKD.

It's just that I find it hard to imagine that there is anything worse out there than Tiscali. Didn't they inherit Localtel's infamous customer services and then deccide they could do it cheaper by moving it to Mumbhai or somewhere like that? For all their faults, TalkTalk do manage at least a minimal level of customer service and they're cheap.

I've been on TalkTalk for the last 6yrs and been happy with them.

The only complaint I would have is they changed their computer billing system and that changed my direct debit date which annoyed me but quite happy with the service.

Regarding other broadband phone deals I'd suggest Sky if you are already a customer.

HTH

You'll be lucky to get unlimited for £25, for a real unlimited service you'd be looking at ~£80. Tiscali certainly isn't unlimited, you just apparently haven't hit any of their limits.

O2/Be are apparently worth looking at if you're connected to one of the 20% of exchanges that can get their proper service as they currently haven't imposed any limits as far as I know (though it's probably inevitable that they will eventually at the price they're charging).

Likewise, not everyone can get over 8Mbit/s as well so if you do look at 20/24Mbit/s be sure to check availability first.

I'm on Post Office Broadband Extra + Homephone and I've been happy with it, my maximum monthly usage has probably been around 60-70GB with no complaints from them. http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/p...diaId=87500743
