Lol, you don't think Philips actually make these do you? They're all made in China and re-branded.

11w is Ok for people who like sitting in the dark.

Energy saving light bulbs are not as bright as their traditional counterparts and claims about the amount of light they produce are "exaggerated", the European Union has admitted.

.......an 11W low-energy CFL produced only 58 per cent of the illumination of an "equivalent" 60W bulb – even after a 10-minute "warm-up".

Those b******s in Europe have conned us again

Actually since 2002 most Philips lightbulbs are made in Poland.

If you look carefully at packaging you will probably see
"Philips Lighting Poland SA, ul Kossaka 150, Piła"

factory is here.... http://tinyurl.com/philips-poland

Interesting statement. 60W of CFL is definately brighter than 60W of filament lamp so that statement is very misleading.

If an 11W CFL really does produce only 58% of the light of a 60W filament lamp then two 11W CFLs (i.e. 22W) will be brighter than a 60W bulb. That's still a very big energy saving.

I haven't voted but I hate all these 11w & 9w energy bulbs as they are pretty useless!
20W minimum is what you need to light up a room!

I have used bulbs like this, they seem fine. A little too dim, and a different sort of light, but I'm used to it.

Now I'm at uni though I have a 6ft flu tube instead!! So much for saving energy.

Vicky :-)
You wouldn't use 40W conventional bulbs to light a room, would you, so why do you expect these to?
