Photfast 5400 (Turns 1-2 Micro SD cards to a Pro Duo)£2.03@dealextreme

£2.03

Basically, this adaptor allows you to put either 1 or 2 Micro SD cards into it and change it to a Pro Duo memory stick.

Using one of these, you could put two 8GB micro SD cards in it, and have a 16GB card for about £25. A 16GB Pro Duo is significantly more expensive.

Great for those with a Sony PSP.

- Model: PhotoFast CR-5400
- Converts MicroSD/Transflash SD/SDHC cards into Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo cards
- TF cards fit flush in the convertor adapter
- Supports up to two 16GB SDHC TF cards at the same time (thus 32GB total)
- Fully compatible with Playstation 3 (PS3) and Playstation Portable models (PSP 1000/2000/3000)
- Easily and cheaply make yourself a 32GB memory stick pro duo card!

Very useful! And much cheaper than Sony's own Mem stick Pro Duo cards.

Welcome to my thread fellow Leicester person.

I guess it depends whether they require the card used to be MagicGate supported.

I have one of these in my Sony camcorder.

I'm running 2 Sandisk 4gb cards, i.e. 1 x 8gb pro duo.

It does work, in a fashion?

You have to format the card(s) in the camcorder or it won't recognise them/it. After formatting you can record to them/it, but everytime you turn on/start recording/stop recording/start playback I get a message and tone on the screen that states the card my not be formatted properly and as such may not record properly.

So far it's recorded everything I've tried, but it is annoying.

Plus if you try to take the card out to transfer data via card reader, etc. it requires that you format the card in the camcorder again before you can use it. Fine, but I don't normally delete memory cards unless I need them for something else, they seem so inexpensive these days it's nearly cheaper than when I used to buy minidv tapes for the other camcorder, if you see what I mean?

Hope that helps. Like I say it works, in a fashion.

I've bought these numerous times from Deal Extreme & most recently from Amazon (needed quickly). Each time I've used 2 x 8gb Micro SDHC (always Class 6) from differing suppliers and had no issues in set up or use. The PSP needs to format the card upon initial use, and reports 15gb available for use.

Highly recommended - with cards the most I've paid is £32.00 to set up a 16gb stick

Geeza

You can get 8GB cards for £10.50 each, and this is after they have gone up in price!

Don't the cards have to be magic gate supported to work with the Playstation store though? I had a fake stick that works fine (but obviously didn't have magic gate) and the PSP store wouldn't recognise it.

I have never used the PSP store, but I know my brother has downloaded demos's and has them on his non magic gate supported Memory stick.

In all honesty, you are only saving a pound or so, not really that beneficial for 4GB.

Did anyone find theirs to be very flimsy ?

The plastic on mine has split and I was always pretty careful with it as well..

Saying that I believe there is fakes about so maybe mine is a fake one, but I suppose they are cheap enough to buy a few replacements.

UPDATE :- According to the pictures here the photos on deal extreme look fake..

http://www.pspmod.com/forums/hardwar...-answered.html

Did anyone ever find out why you don't get the full 16gb, I only get 14gb when formatted.
It's something to do with "GB" and "Gb". One is smaller than the other - the PSP displays the smaller value and they are advertised using the bigger figure. It happens on all memory sticks.
