Hot! but, I do agree with sandmanNI that the best value is to pick up the Game of the Year version with the add-ons, because this game's so awesome, you'll want them when you finally finish playing the basic version

£11.95 + £8 x 5 (expansion packs) = £51.95

GOTY edition (including all 5 expansion packs) = £30 or less.

Just to clarify the DLC content is only available for XBOX 360 or PC, so for the PS3 I do not think you can, so the Game of the YEar is better value.

For the other ones, you could see it both ways, if you buy the expansions on their own you can trade them in after installing them and get some money back

When the expansions were released you could get them for about a tenner and trade them in for £9 at CEX of £10 at Gamestation (using price match + £1). So really it was cheaper that way as you only had to buy Mothership Zeta from XBOX live.

Otherwise the Game of the year is your best bet.

Why you even bothering to talk about the GOTY ed? Point is meant to be that this is the cheapest regular edition available. You might not want the extra content, or already have it and require a replacement disc.

if you add quidco (and happen to have a £1 off voucher like I had) I reckon this aint such a bad deal. Wouldve been nicer to get it stupidly cheap instore at sainburys or asda but our locals havent had it. Besides it'll take me an age to finish the standard game by which time the price of the GOTY will hopefully drop (cant see that happening much before Chrissy) and then I'll gift this one on. Cheers!

Good point, plus if (Like me) you bought this edition not knowing if you'll like it or not to try it out. If I never liked it and spent all that extra money on the GOTY edition it would have been a waste.

In the GOTY edition does the extra content come way of a PSN code to download or are they on the disk ??

Why not buy the expansion pack discs online, copy to hard drive and then sell on fleabay?

expansion pack isnt out on disk for PS3 (I dont think) so its PSN @ £8 a pop (reading above) or GOTY edition, or just stick with the original.
I just dont know if the expansions are actually on the disk or is it like COD4 GOTY where you get a code to download them

Expansion pack is out for PS3 and included in GOTY, its all contained on the 1 blu ray disc, so you can't copy over to your hard drive. The 360 has a 2nd disc with all the DLC which you can copy to your drive and then flog the disc

GOTY references are useful if people aren't aware - they can then make up their own minds which to buy.
