hot - don't drink wine and the food on board is expensive - we're so mean we take a picnic! The staff in the onboard shop take your crates of beer down to your car for you .

I did see the other deal but posted this as it is cheaper, available to foot passengers, and you can travel up to the end of December.

It just depends on how you value the Gallo wine, if you use the other deal you effectively pay £1.80 a bottle. You can pick it up for £2 so the other deal will save you £1, if you were planning on buying some.

This deal which should have expired is still running

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/51962...-calais-1-foot

It will save you an additional £2

Food is not expensive with bogof

£7.99 for full breakfast so works out £3.98 each

It just depends on how you value the Gallo wine, if you use the other deal you effectively pay £1.40 a bottle. You can pick it up for £2.49 so the other deal will save you just over £5, if you were planning on buying some

like to know where its £2.49 a bottle, post it up that would be a good hot deal, best ive ever seen this wine is on the 3 for £10 deals

Used this deal myself yesterday, the free wine voucher was attached to my boarding pass
I could choose any of the J.P Chenet varities

Sorry jonnye, I posted an incorrect price for the Gallo wine. It can actually be purchased for £2 a bottle if you buy 3 bottles at oddbins Calais.

Thanks for pointing out the dailymail deal chalkysoil, it should have ended but is still running. I've posted it as a deal so others out there can make use of it, and given you some rep

The way the pound is at the moment it is far cheaper just to go to Asda/Tesco/Morrisons, etc, than buying abroad. I would not bother with this offer as it is a waste of time.

I'd be very keen to know where you can find a bottle of Lindauer Brut in the UK for £4.29 a bottle.

It's mostly the difference in duty which allows for such big savings in France. A cheap bottle of wine sold here will have about £1.45 worth of duty added to the price, the same bottle in France will only have about 4p added.

Among other things you'll also find cheeses are about 25-50% cheaper.

Keep in mind anything imported into the UK was purchased with the pound, ie the drop in euro/pound means these items are already more expensive here. It's only the difference in taxes/duty and transport costs that makes things relatively cheaper or more expensive.

Also you can currently get this deal £2 cheaper here

It should have expired already but is still booking up to the end of December

I can buy a big block of cheese from my Asda for £2.00 so why would I want to go to France to buy it?

Good point, I suppose there are those out there who prefer the scenery of an ASDA store to that of the french countryside. I'll make sure I pop into an ASDA next time I'm in Glasgow, they must be much nicer than the ones we have down here.

You'd probably only be dissapointed anyway, chances are the product that ASDA sells as "cheese" would be illegal to sell in France
