Looking for Ryanair-compatible piece of luggage

POSTED BY: grubby23 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Hi,

I am looking for a piece of hand luggage that I could take onboard an Rynairflight.
The maximum allowed size is: 55x 40 x 20cm

Could anyone recommend me some (cheap) piece of hand luggage that comes close to this size? Ideally, it is a 4-wheel

Many thanks

I have the Debenhams Tripp cabin, which is well within the range of all the airlines but TBH there's tons of stuff out there, if you have the nerve to exceed the stated limits, on their web site. As long as you actually end up with one piece of hand luggage i.e. handbag inside the cabin bag, then you're OK ,no matter what size but I have never ( on a lot of flighst this year!!) had the nerve to try it . I just fume when fellow travellers push a huge case into the overheads. C'est la vie.

Plenty of space for 5 days anyway

Thanks for getting back to me, are you talking about this one?

http://www.tripp.co.uk/products/blac...-suitcase/330/

Looks good, but the problem is that its weight alone is almost 4KG!!! I might then be in trouble when
I am just aloud to have 10 KG in total....

That sort of thing.
10KG IS A LOT!!
We manage easily for a 5-7 day trip ( not going to a diplomatic ball or anything) with one of those ( I think ) and a hold-all. Just remember to put the gels/liquids in an accessible plastic bag and that your handbag needs to go in one of your hand luggage.
4 wheels tend to be bulkier than allowed and not needed with cabin luggage.

Thanks for that recommendation, but maybe I should have said that I would love to have a hard shell one ;)

Cheers

Hand luggage = easy to handle; to get into and out of overhead locker.

Forget about hard shell and 4 wheel . What's the point? It's with you all the time.

Agree. Does not need to be robust because not being manhandled in a hold. I did see one passenger with a nylon bag that had wheels, weighed just a couple of pounds. And it can be shaped to fit the cabin bag measurements. You can then carry a lot more stuff. It was his mums and did not know where she got it from

Travelled from Lpool last month. It is stated but I did not see it, any duty free you buy ALSO has to fit inside the cabin bag. Just beofre boarding, we had to take some clothes out (and wear them) before we could fit the duty free in

I must say I've not seen anyone not allowed to have their duty free as well. Small print somewhere.

Just been to Dublin again with Ryanair from Birmingham. They were checking everyones bags when boarding and i mean everyones. I seen about 10 people get pulled and that was only when i was in the que near the checking location. You are better off taking a holdall type of bag as it will squash into the frame, everyone that had got pulled were with the 'trolley dolly' type of cases, which are more robust and will not fit in. I have got an antler cabin bag which i got from Makro for £9.99 plus vat.

Not in small print, when you print off your online check in clearly stated there now (I did not see it). So you cannot avoid it

I could never arrive in Cork empty handed. Whiskies for the oldies, have always bought it for them. Ryanair seem to be tightening up on this, so just a heads up to warn others. Personally, there should be a sign in the duty free shop to warn people....will hit their profits badly if Easy jet etc do similar

I only had to wear 3 pairs of trousers, the lady was furious but we were last through to the stairs and I could see they were still queing to get on board. She wanted me to pay £30 to take it onboard....and therefore miss the flight as well.

That's the game you play with Ryanair, know the rules and you will be OK, 4 of of us went for 1p each, return, well happy

Oh right - staring you in the face; I can't say that I've noticed it either.
A good tip.

I would love to have seen you turning into Michelin person!!

Yes, RyanAir - love them and their 1p flights. We went to Bergamo ( love the place) last month for 4p. You cannot beat it.
