The World at War was first broadcast 31st October 1973, when memories of the Second World War were still clear in people's minds and the war's veterans numerous. This unique television series was able to assemble these recollections, together with archive footage into one of the most powerful and successful historical documentaries ever seen. The voices of those that fought, worked or watched during the Second World War gave each episode a vivid sense of what it was like to be there and was the hallmark of the series. Over 30 years on, the series is still widely acknowledged to be the definitive history of the Second World War - the best of its kind.

This 35 1/2 hour 11 disco box set contains;
- Original 26 Episodes.
- 8 Special Presentations.
- 3 hour 30th Anniversary Disc containing previously unseen interviews and retrospective interviews with the original production team.

Soooo tempted by this!

I too remember watching it as a wide eyed youngster with my dad - the theme music was especially atmospheric. We used to visit my grandparents every weekend and while this series was running, I used to love questioning my grandad's (both of whom served in Africa during WWII) about the war and listening to their accounts / opinions of what happened.

I've always since bought & worn a poppy at this time of year purely because of the effect this series had on me as a kid and will forever view all the men and women who took part as true heroes from a time when wars were genuinely fought to preserve freedom.

Rant over Great price

Obviously not the backward country you're from,judging by your atrocious use of the English language.
If you're not English,please promptly **** off to where you came from,because,frankly,I'm sick of immigrants coming here and slagging the UK off.If you don't like it....**** orf !!!

Cool,
Does it tell about the Coca Cola company inventing Fanta, because the Nazis didn't buy enough cola?
How about IBMs part in supplying and maintaining all the computing equipment in all the concentration camps, which cataloged the Jewish prisoners, and generated the code numbers that were tattooed on them?
No mentioned of the massive financial investment by American companies both before and during the war i take it??

How unsurprising.

(PS, all the above are proven facts, 'War Is a Racket'.)
