the other deal for xps 8000 is better imo.

GPU isnt that great though.

It's £82 more, but you get 8GB rather than 3GB of RAM, and in a dual channel rather than single channel config, so performance will be much better.

64 bit OS instead of 32 bit.
5GB more ram

This also gives you the option of x64 at the same price.
It also comes with Win 7 Pro which is a £30 upgrade on the other system.
For those that require that it does change the comparative value for money.
I’d usually choose a Studio XPS over a Vostro which from my experience offer very cheap cases; my mother has one and the side panel makes an annoying vibrating sound.

I wouldn't go with an i7 system if the RAM isn't in a triple channel setup. i7 is optimized for that...

i7 is available for two desktop platforms and only one supports triple channel memory. That is the one that is actually designed for dual processor systems and was also released for high end single socket desktops. Benchmarks show that typically the gain in moving from dual to triple channel memory for desktop applications with single socket systems is negligible.
