EXPIRES: 14/11/2009

Of limited interest, but may help someone needing to replace an integrated appliance. John Lewis have for sale the JLBIWM1402 integrated washing machine for £499. It has 1400rpm spin speed and takes a 6kg load. Nothing remarkable about that, but there's £50 discount if you trade in your old machine, so a total of £449 delivered. It comes with a 3 year guarantee.

T'is a good price for an integrated appliance, and even better when you consider that it's a rebadged AEG. The AEG branded equivalent will set you back £689 plus there's a £9 charge to have your old machine taken away!

However the Electrolux branded equivalent would cost you less than £400:

AFAIK all John Lewis white goods come from the Zanussi factory, which can also be branded as AEG, Electrolux etc.

Smaller drum, no 3 year warranty. I've got another AEG (stainless steel) which is noticeably quieter in operation than many others I've seen. Am I missing the noise level rating for this one?

Not the same by a long stretch.

JL washing machines are AEG which is the same company as Electrolux, but not the same range. Hotpoint! It'is like comparing Poundstrecher with Harrods!

if you want to see how good john lewis own brand products are then visit a store during a clearance event - its wall to wall John Lewis appliances that have been returned by customers.

Whether you buy JLP, Electrolux, AEG or Zanussi the basic quality and life expectancy is basically the same, same parts same factories.

If you own an old AEG you are looking at a different product.
