Damn cold callers!

This Indian sounding telesales guy just phoned at 9.30AM!, was asking for someone else in the house for a survey, and i said he was out at work so go away.

Then he tells me to '****off' got the number from BT 1471 now what do i do.

also signed up to that telephone preference thing, to stop being cold called a few months backed. Seemed it hasn't worked.
Maybe i should change my number?

Worst thing is i was expecting a call, so rushed to pick it up.

The only way to stop it for a while is change your number but as i have found when you buy things on the internet and you put your number down they sell your number on.

i remember when the OH answer a call from one of those he just said f off and the guy rang back and said
"you do know these calls are recorded dont you?"

OH said so f ing what rewind it and play it back saves me having to tell you again - put the phone down and the same guy rang back again
he said

"im going to report you to my supervisor, i dont have to put up with that sort of abuse"

oh how i laughed when the OH screamed down the phone @ him


all i do now is leave the phone on the side or if i can be bothered wind them up, tis well funny

The phone preference thing only blocks companies registered in the UK it won't stop calls from foreign call centres

You are under no obligation to tell ANYONE on the phone who is in our out of your house.

That is your personal business and nothing to do with them.

Unfortunately there are so many scam artists and con people (and burglars) around you are best telling people on the phone NOTHING about who lives in the house, or when you are in and out and so on.

Treat EVERY cold caller as a potential con artist.
