STARTS: 04/11/2009 EXPIRES: 31/03/2011
New scheme from Birmingham City Council, couldnt find a post on here already but I went for my first session today and was surprised how simple it was! I registered online at the Birmingham Council website for the Leisure card which is already free of charge. They emailed a reference number and I collected the card from the gym! Easy enough. Hours aren't ideal, but if you are an early morning or afternoon gym user then its ideal. Includes studio classes provided that your still in the centre before 4pm (e.g. after speaking to a trainer today, I can get to the gym for 3.55pm, use the pool and then attend a class around 5pm as Im already scanned onto the system!)
Taken from the website:
Birmingham City Council, in partnership with the NHS, is now offering all Birmingham residents* free swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions.
To join the scheme you'll need a Leisure Card. Just complete an application form and take it to your local centre along with two documents which show your name and address.
*Birmingham residents pay council tax to Birmingham City Council. Non-Birmingham residents aged over 60 or under 17 can still swim for free.
