3D has a long and colourful history. From a 19th century craze to the 3D movies of the 50s when it was developed to fight off competition from television; and from the 1980s revival that saw Jaws 3D packing out cinemas; to the cutting-edge 3D technology of today.

Sainsburys in association with Channel 4 is bringing you a week of 3D TV

Channel 4
In a dedicated week Channel 4 invites viewers to put on their 3D specs and celebrate 3D on TV. Were not talking state of the art IMAX technology here, but some good old fashioned fun. From unseen footage of The Queen in her coronation year to Derren Brown and movies, Channel 4 will be offering viewers another dimension across seven days of classic and original programming.

S'not bad at all - a genuine freebie - this is what makes this site geat!

We watched Up in 3D during 1/2 term last week (well worth it!) using Tesco Vouchers and a a few £'s for the 3D upgrade - Cineworld gave us each a pair of 3D glasses! Fair enough there was a collection box, which my honest missus deposited hers into - managed to salvage mine and the kids so we have 4 free 3D glasses (Handy for Guiness Book of records etc).

Worth knowing, though I am not going to be so sad as to post my free 3D glasses as a listing on HUKD's (as some might do!) as we did have to 'buy' the cinema tickets

Are these the same colours as the free Chuck 3D glasses which were available a few months ago?

But the RealD technology used the cinema is completely different to that employed by printed books and/or Channel 4 TV.
Have you actually tried your "free" 3D Glasses with the Guiness Book Of Records ? I suspect they won't work with anything except your local Cinema

The cinema 3D glasses from films like UP and Final Destination are different to the old 3D glasses from years ago.

The cinema ones have 2 black lenses, where as the old 3D glasses had a blue and red filter for each eye. Looks like the Channel 4 ones go back to the old fashioned way, with a blue and orange filter.

Oh well, freebie.

The blue-amber 3D glasses that were issued for the 3D broadcast of Chuck and for this Channel 4 week are ColorCode 3-D, which seems to be an improvement on the previous red-green anaglyph method.
