be very careful with the diamond or any orange branded windows mobile phone for that matter, if you mess the reflash up you could end up at best with phone where the radio ( part that handles calls) simply won't work ..i've seen it happen ) or at worst a completely dead phone or an expensive paper weight
Have just revived an xda stuck in bootloader...still working on an injured HTC Hero... help out a pal sometimes who's a mobile phone unlocker ..he usually comes unstuck with windows /android mobiles. I'm hesitant to suggest anything as i prefer to see what's going on on the phone..start up menus , bootloads etc before messing with it
You could try a carphone warehouse with an onsite service centre ( & no I don't work for them) & request a software update. If the handsets less than a year old the update will be free. else ask nicely .. works wonders! to tel how old / what firmware version is installed is key in *#0000#..works for nokias anyway
out of curiosity why did you buy the diamond ...tiny 2.4" screen wreaks havoc with your eyes...i'm an optician by the way..

you might need a radio rom / firmware update, I suspect the seller installed a cooked rom (firmware /software cobbled from the best bits of various HTC handsets)..if you take a look at xda developers as recommended earlier by matthews you'll see what i mean.
anyway look for a prog called anton tomov pocket mechanic , free 30 day trial , install & run it .. resolves known / unknown glitches/ registry issues most times
you can reflash the radio part only , but the only way you can find out if a radio rom works is to try it... radio roms can make a phone temperamental , for instance you could flash say a french radio rom on a singaporean phone of the same model .. & boom you lose all audio, while vice versa , there's no problems at all.
I've just unlocked an orange Tosh TG01 , call quality wasn't that great to start with , now when I pop my Tmob sim in there , the quality's even more hellish so need to try & work around that this w-end

HTC's are generally more forgiving (compared to Omnias & Gigabytes) and can generally be resurrected when things go wrong.. try that with an omnia or gigabyte & all is practically lost!
