Which TV to get?

POSTED BY: stevey_p7 3 weeks, 10 hours ago

I'm really in a pickle as to which TV to go for. Both have their own good points.

Will be using the TV mainly for PS3 use.

I'm looking at getting the LG 37LH3000 from Currys for £399

or

The Panasonic TXP37X10B from Dixons for £440

Ones a Plasma without 1080p and the LG is LCD with 1080p. I'm beginning to think my PS3 games would look better on the LG.

Anyone help me decide?

thanks to all replies, good and bad points of these TV's are welcomed with Rep.

Would it be a better picture for use with my PS3 though?

Ive just been to Currys and the picture on the LG was impressive, the Panny wasn't hooked up to HD channel though so didn't get the full effect.

I have yo say the Panasonic as well. I have got the 42" version and it is a brilliant all round set. Also you say the games will look better on the LG due to having a better resolution this is not the case as black levels, contrast and others should be taken into consideration not just the resolution.

I have got both plasma and LCD, I have found I get screen burn on the plasma, and the LCD is better picture quality and colour. Personally if I was to buy another TV, I would go for LCD.

This isn't a problem with modern plasma tv espically with Panasonic. I can play the 360 for hours there has not even been a hint of Image retention.

It is about 2 year old now, and the LCD is about 6 months. I agree though, technology is moving that fast nowadays, there's no keeping up with it

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think the majority here would recommend the Plasma.

I'm gonna take the plunge in the next hour. You will be repped in time. Thanks guys.

EDIT: Has anyone ever price-matched with John Lewis before?

Do I have to go instore and do it and how easy was it to do. Wanting to Price Match with them regarding the Dixons deal.
