Not a bad price for a compact with a proper Li-ion battery but not really 'half price' of course. You can do better at around this price - I'd look at Panasonic first (build quality, etc), but this one deserves a hot(ish) vote.

Can you get a Panasonic camera with similar specs for this price? Voted hot from me.

By spending another £10.01 you can use a 1000 points with £100 code and get £30 worth of points in total with the website offer at the moment, so effectively £60 for the camera, which I think is a bargain for a first camera for my 13 year old daughter.

IMHO specs (with digi cameras) are often deeply misleading.

It's all about the lens.
**** in **** out, as they say, and it doesn't matter how many megapixels the sensor has if the lens is poor.

Panasonics with a Leica lens are very hard to beat., regardless of what the badges say about how many megapixels etc.

Yes you can. Probably get 4x optical zoom too.

I voted this one hot but just think you can do better.

Absolutely agree. Panasonic / Leica branded lenses are excellent.

Too many megapixels can adversely affect picture quality in this size camera (noise due to small sensor). There's a marketing race on but in fact 8MP is plenty for virtually any normal use (including significant enlargements).

That doesn't explain how you get £30 worth of points by spending £100. It does mention splitting the order in to two but then you're not spending £100

Anyway, this isn't reviewed anywhere online which is not normal for a camera. I would suggest steering well clear of this deal.

Well there's a strong opinion based on little evidence!

Not difficult to work out if you try it:

- 1000 points for spending £100 normally
- extra 500 points per £50 spend on site at moment
- extra 1000 points for a £100 spend from the code I posted

And looking on the Fujifilm website it is obvious that they tend to do the same or similar camera under different numbers for different retailers, so this is very similar to the J28 and J30. Reviews for these say it is a good budget model, and that's based on a higher price than £60.
