Belkin Powerline (Homeplug) starter kit 85 MBPS £34.67 @ Currys

£34.67

FOUND BY: CheeseWeasel 2 weeks, 1 day ago

Went into Currys today looking specifically for a homeplug kit and came away with this Belkin Powerline (Homeplug) starter kit, which contains 2 powerline adapters, extended power cords (so you don't have to have space around the plug) and 2 ethernet cables.

The sign next to the adapters showed £39.99 to clear but came up at £34.97 at the till. No idea if this is store specific or not it was at the Kilmarnock store and it's not on the website.

Please could you give me a SKU code/product code or model number so my local currys can check to see if they have any?

Reasonable price, but for an extra £9 you can get these 200MB ones - and they are good for streaming HD...

Just bought these in my Local Currys Store. Would rather have these than the 200MB Ebuyer ones as lots of complaints about over heating. Nothing but good review on these and on a 100MB lan seems to work great so far.

Store was Swansea (fforestfach) although it was the last box on the shelf.

Do these things actually work?? At the moment we use wireless internet but for some reason my desktop keeps cutting out, using wireless N and everything. If these things actually work, would it be good replacement??

i would try other options first (e.g. changing wireless channel used - you might find you are conflicting with a neighbour )

I've used 200mbps ones with a Popcorn hour streaming from a NAS drive.
720p goes ok, 1080p sometimes falls over.
85mbps won't do HD full stop.
They also spew radio interference for about 200 yards around where you live.
Anything that sends data over unshielded house wiring is basically crap,
but they might work for you.

LOL. You must be doing really well because 100mbps is impossible. That's a theoretical maximum.
