Hi i recently ordered my nice shiney new iPhone from Orange. When making the order they asked me if i wanted Orange Care insurance for the iPhone @ £12 Per Month. I thought it was a bit steep just for phone insurance so told them i would ring back.

After this i checked my banks website for insurance deals and found the following from Natwest:

If you upgrade to the 'Advantage Gold account' for £12.95 a Month you get:

Mobile Phone Insurance (Includes iPhone) - You can also insure TWO mobiles on one account. So great if you and partner have iPhones etc.

Annual World Wide travel insurance - Including winter sports.

Green Flag Breakdown Cover

£15,000 Accidental Death Cover

12 months' cover on top of the manufacturers one or two year guarantee on up to six home electrical items per year.

Identity theft protection - Covers 5k worth of expense restoring you credit rating should something happen.

20% Discount off 200 attractions (Inc London Dungeon, Alton Towers etc)

Discounts of up to 60% at over 21,000 hotels in 3,500 locations around the world - from 5* luxury accommodation to budget hotels.

Plus some more smaller benifits.

I personally thought this was a much better option to pay £12.95 per month for all this rather than just £12 for iPhone insurance alone. I think most other banks offer a similar service so worth checking with your bank before opting to take out Orange Care / O2 Insurance. Hope this helps a few people save a couple of quid.

Total package looks good (must look into it further - I'm paying that for travel insurance alone).

However, I don't think your post is going to get very hot on here as you've posted it as phone cover - as you decided yourself, that's not an attractive price.

Do you have to put a minimum into the account each month?
Is the travel insurance a decent package, including USA, or just a 'top up'?

Might also be worth saying that for £6.95 a month, for those who don't have an iphone and only want one phone insured, you can get either the Natwest Advantage Blue or RBS Royalties accounts.

It's worth noting that the Advantage Blue account only covers phones up to the value of £300, whereas the Gold account covers a phone up to £500 (and from what I can see, it can only cover two phones if you have a joint account): http://www.natwest.com/personal/curr...tage-gold.ashx

I have used these guys for a few years now for iPhone insurance and have had to use them numerous times. They have none of the stupid clauses you get in a lot of policies whereby if you get something wet it invalidates your insurance.

I pay £7 a month.

I also thought that you could only insure one phone unless it was a joint account but when in the bank with the bank manager i was told i could insure two phones even though mine is not a joint account. The bank manager actually filled the form out for me.

Have now changed title to include travel insurance and breakdown cover. Anyway hope it helps a few people out who might have overlooked it otherwise.

I'm insured with Natwest Mobile phone cover for over a year now !!! never needed to use them tho'.....but its free if you've got the Advantage gold account.

The car breakdown now covers every car registered to the account holder!!!!
Travel covers holder, spouse and all dependant children up to the age of 24. Heat.

I checked with my home insurance provider, and my home insurance covers my phone, for lost or stolen etc, and I have a low excess too. Always worth checking with home insurance, before taking out additional insurance, that you may not need. If you need to claim, it will affect your premium, though if you insure elsewhere and have a problem, you should also notify your other insurer that you've claimed, as this is a relevant fact to update them upon. If you don't, your cover, even though paid, could be void.

Yorkshire Bank provides a very similar package (international travel insurance, gadgets insurance, ID theft insurance and breakdown recovery) with their Signature Account for £10.
