...might bring them down to supermarket prices then!

Expect most stock to be moved to non-closing stores (still nearly 1000 stores not closing down), except beer and wine I probably.

I worked in one of their stores that shut down a couple of years ago. All our customers expected great discounts, but there were no offers, all the stock was just moved to other stores. Suspect similar thing may happen here, but you never know.

I don't understand why this is cold. I got a 70cl bottle of Jim Bean for £10.89, and they had 75cl bottles of Taylor's PORT for just £5.25 per bottle. Bargainous if you ask me...

Just to clarify: my local Threshers was offering 25% off everything, much of which is already generously reduced in their pre-Xmas sale.

The Victoria Wine near my work in Haymarket in Edinburgh have this sale on. I was in today and got 15 bottles for £85. While a lot of the wine has gone there were still some very good wines there.

Some examples:

Campo viejo reserva rioja 2004
Campo viejo crianza rioja 2006
Wolf Blass all varieties
All the top champagnes

Plus if the wine was on sale (their bin ends) you get half price on top of the sale!

This sounds hot with the Jim Beam price...dunno anything about port.

Sorry to anyone who is going to lose their jobs, but this really is an obvious casualty, the people running it must be daft, I swear, they are competing against themselves in my home town. and where I live now there are 2 (wineracks/threshers) within 2 mins walk of each other. Looking on google street view they were both threshers...now atleast 1 is a wine rack...and I'm quite sure the other is too.. the money wasted on pointless rebranding alone is insane!!
