FOUND BY: egbjcb 2 weeks, 23 hours ago

Morrisons are doing topside or silverside of beef at £1.95 a pound, I bought a huge bit (just over 4kg) which they kindly cut into 3 for me, which cost me just under £20
Good for Christmas, can be frozen
Hope that helps someone out ..
Sorry only posted a few deals and can't get the link to Morrisons to work.

Doesn't appear to be on it anyway, yet they are advertising it on the TV!

Mind you, there are a lot of people who wouldn't know what a POUND of meat is, and even I think in Kg now too, despite still being able to convert back to pre-decimal Pounds Shillings & Pence!

Hi, think a kilo is about 2.2 pounds (or around that ) so a pound is about 0.5kg

Darn, you beat me to it.
I am a fishmonger at Morrisons and saw this deal yesterday. Meant to post it last night.
Just to clarify, this offer is HALF PRICE on Silverside, Topside, Topside Rump and Salmon Cut beef joints. These are all primarily the same, but butchers insist there is a difference. Most decent sized joints are now priced about £4.
The offer is on until Sunday, and there is PLENTY stock. We wrapped up over 200 joints today. Tomorrow will be even busier.
Also, they are limited to 2 per customer. And they ARE freezable, so its worth getting a couple for over the christmas period in my opinion.

And yeah, a pound is about 0.46kg

While 4.24/Kg is a good price, £8.48 would be a gross over-pricing, and smacks of the usual meaningless "recommended" or "was" method of pricing most stores get up to!

All the other supermarkets regularly sell Topside & Silverside at about £4.50 to £5 /kg on offers, and not a lot more, say about £7 at their regular pricing.

Its not hard to comprehend is it?? £8.48 is the normal price (even at Tesco), and when its half price is £4.24. Whether its overpriced at 8.48 is a different matter, personally I buy whatever meat is on offer (And as an added bonus you can buy twice as much for the same price - bargain!!)

What's your beef?

have to say I really don't like Morrisons. Checkouts are very slow and under staffed.

I now buy all my meat at a local butchers - I may get flamed for this but the quality is sooo much better. I never believed this until I started using a proper butcher.

Hi, bought some beef yesterday from Morrisons, have to say the quality is really good and I personally think at this price you cannot go wrong. Got a really big piece, had some yesterday and have frozen the rest for Xmas.
Heat added.

Any tips on how to cook small pieces of this beef in a microwave/combo grill, or is this a no-no?

I personally find morrisons to be the best supermarket for meat, far better than asda's which is rank.
And i bet you can't find these price's at your local butcher's.
Just wish halifax's new store would hurry up and open as i'm missing out on some right bargains.

They all do this.. put the price up, to drop it later! Somerfield in particular (before the Coop buyout) constantly cycle the "full" price, then half it.
