Humm. Not intending to hijack your thread buddy but anyone know of a freeview + recorder with a USB you can hitch up to a PC and transfer recordings from the freeview box to your PC in common file types eg mpeg 2, avi etc.

If its a problem you can't get around but want to, get format factory freeware. It can easily manage most conversions.

They are .rec files or .ts and in the past I have converted and burned to DVD, I did not find that it took that long.

Think this might make it seem harder than it is but gives an idea.

easier way once you have the .rec files as this program used to open and author them. http://www.womble.com/

Dunno if it's free or if they do a free version.

You know the Womble soft is good for doing various edits but I've ALWAYS found the quality of the edited files normally (MPEG 2 Prog) and not that great. Edit an edit and then the quality really drops off. I can normally see lots of noise, normally in vertical bars.

EDIT Thats from their old MPEG WIzard and newer DVD Wizard.

absolute joke, went into 1 aldi store at 0910, no sign of this or the vinyl recorder thing. went into another an hour later, again no sign of it apart from the big massive poster. was told they were all gone. whats the point in advertising these if a store only gets a handful! absolutely fuming, will never step foot in an aldi ever again.
