Interesting offer, I popped along to comet to check this out as I want to replace my notebook. The website says that it has a media card slot unfortunately it doesn't as there is no slot unlike the stock image they have used.

Still out if I am going to go for it as to me the build feels a little cheap and plasticy, if you get what I mean.

Go this for the old (81) man today. Needed a big screen and it's great. Gives a 3.1 windows score but that is due to the graphics, all other scores come in at over 4.3. Seems fast in operation generally, should be fine for what he needs it to be. Coming back to my 15.4 seems tiny now.

Big and cumbersome,but not going to be carted about.
Doesn't feel 'to plasticy' to me as pevious poster but each to his own.

Pretty good deal and if you register it with tosh the year warranty is upgraded to door to door.

Found a laptop bag mouse and 2 year upgraded warranty for 77 quid, will post when found the linky

i can see myself going back to comet for another play, I like the 3gb & 2.1mhz cpu which is an upgrade on my Fujitsu LI 1818 with 2gb 1.73 mhz, which in all will help with my moderate level of DTP

I am not one for change really, my LI 1818 is a matt plastic I haven't made up my mind with these glossy cases. Surfer how did you find the keypad?, blasted in store plastic anti theft devices prevented me from having a bash

trackpad is something ive not used before. Like a light sandpaper substance that u run your finger over. I actually prefer it to a standard trackpad as there are no edges, a bit weird to get used to but fine. Only installed a few programs and surfed a bit, surfing is def faster than my lappy,probably due to the ram.

I too noticed that the track pad was a little different. I like the deal and price especially after discounts but am such a pain when it comes to shopping.

I intend to wipe the drive and install XP on it anyway as I have need xp for certain programs that I use on a regular basis and unfortunately having Virtual Machines isn't an option for me, I may actually dual boot it with Win 7 considering Win 7 is supposed to be not as troublesome as Vista which I have never had on my machine.

Decisions decisions....I'll have a play again tomorrow and see how I get on. Surfer did you go through Quidco? Has it tracked or showing yet?

Windows 7 is far better than Vista, would do a dual boot if I were you.
Personally it's too big for me but then I didn't want a 17" screen.
If you do, from what I've seen it's a good deal.
For what it is it's great, Big bright screen,high res,windows 7 installed from the off and 3 gig of ram. For everyday stuff it should be perfect and what I like about 7 is that media player 12 supports loads of codecs from the off (Xvid/Divx)

I'm sure I've opened a can of worms getting it for the old man, i'll be tech support for the rest of his days !!!
