It does say £139 on the 'Offers' page under DOTD, but still shows as full price when you click thru. Might be a timing thing (it's still early in the day)?

Think this should be unexpired.

I saw this last night, couldn't belive that £139 was a so called bargain for a 16gb player. Would have expected it to be 100 or less for that size memory and this type of product by now.

It depends what they really want it for. This will be a much better MP3 player than any ipod in terms of sound quality and number of file formats it will play and you're not restricted to itunes, so if it's just as a media player then this is a better bet.

However, if it's the ipod touch they're after then that does lots more besides being an mp3 player - it's got a lot of really good games and other applications (facebook, email etc) and is more like a mini computer (you'll need to have wifi in your house to get the most out of them though). My son's got one and loves his for all of this added stuff and is less bothered about sound quality and the MP3 functions.

Try here for a fairly impartial review and comparison, ignore the prices they are in dollars. Personally I am an iPod fan, the Nano if you just want music and video is about £125 for 16GB and iPod Touch with wireless internet access for about £200 for 32GB (all the memory for any music collection) with thousands of 'Apps' to play with.

Yup , the apple ipod is a great fashion accessory , along with being able to play music it allows for lots of applications to be used on it.
The Sony on the other hand is probably less of a fashion accessory and more of a top quality, well built mp4 player for far superior quality sound and screen.
If you are just looking at getting the best music player the choice is obvious - the Sony wins hands down , if its a kiddie thing who just wants to show off lots of pointless applications and isnt even bothered about how good the music sounds then go for the ipods ;)
Myself , I prefer the sound quality over gimmicky fads and fashion accessory electricals so for me the choice was pretty easy......

Probably a good thing in your case - I don't know your sons, but I doubt that if they asked for Ipods and got something different (even if it is superior in sound quality like the Sonys are), they would be terribly impressed lol !
